Band

Frozen Fish has been playing, recording and performing acoustic folky and bluesy songs as a duo for over 10 years. Today, Frozen Fish is a complete band, featuring Rob Segers (vocals & guitar), Kris Laukens (fiddles & mandoline), JP Declerck (acoustic bass guitar) and Benke Huygaerts (drums).

The New Frozen Fish plays twanging bluesy folkabilly grooves.

Back to the nineties
The first musical experiments with guitar, violin started in april 1994 and resulted in the song "I don't wanna eat frozen fish", a reaction against fish being served in semi-frozen condition. This song died in silence but the name Frozen Fish stays and became the name of the band.

The music evolved from rather experimental towards more folky & bluesy stuff. Most of the Frozen Fish music originated during the many busking sessions in Belgium, England and Ireland: Frozen Fish travelled a lot and played along with many musicians with very different styles. Demo-recordings were released in 1996 & 1998.

The music of the duo has been described as "hunting accoustic bluesy american folky songs and tunes with a celtic edge", or could generally be classified as "eclectic", combining Eastern European folk and klezmer with bluegrass and Irish folk, often with bluesy vocals and harmonica. Most of the songs were written and arranged by Frozen Fish, and played up-tempo in an energetic and often "wild" way. During the years Frozen Fish has continuously performed live: on festivals, in pubs, on wedding parties, funeral receptions and official inaugurations as well as in a lot of jam sessions.

Expanding fish
In the summer of 2004, Benke Huygaerts joined the boys on percussion. When the Fish plays electric, she bangs like crazy on a classic drumkit, but you can also find her playing the djembee, darbuka, etc. This woman gives an extra 'heartbeat' to the music. In autumn 2005, JP Declerck completes Frozen Fish with acoustic bass guitar. The deep, warm bass adds pumping power and a smooth full sound to Frozen Fish. New songs are written and old songs get a major overhaul.
